Pride in something generally deemed shameful often arises from personal growth or a shift in perspective. A personal example could be the moment when I took pride in overcoming a long-standing fear of public speaking. Traditionally, the intense anxiety associated with speaking in public had been a source of embarrassment for me—something I tried to hide. However, the moment came when I was thrust into the role of presenting in front of a large audience. In preparing for this, I embraced vulnerability and sought to understand the roots of my fear, converting it into a narrative of resilience and achievement.

This experience allowed me to reevaluate what I had previously deemed a weakness. Transforming a perceived flaw into a testament of my ability to grow fostered a profound sense of pride. It was less about the act of public speaking itself and more about the courage to face and grow from something that once felt insurmountable. Consequently, the process became a marker of success, rewriting my narrative from one of shame to one of empowerment and mastery.
