Narcissists tend to monopolize discussions, often interrupting others to steer the focus back to themselves. They also exhibit a lack of empathy, showing little regard for others’ feelings or perspectives while maintaining an inflated sense of their own importance and abilities.
Additionally, narcissists are prone to exploiting or manipulating others to achieve their own goals, frequently disregarding ethical boundaries in their pursuit of personal gain. They can become excessively defensive or confrontational when challenged or criticized, often shifting blame or downplaying their own responsibilities. A pattern of superficial charm, where they actively seek to impress others while forming only shallow relationships, is also indicative of narcissistic tendencies.
Narcissists may exhibit grandiose fantasies about their success, brilliance, or attractiveness, further fueling their self-importance and entitlement. They often have a heightened sensitivity to perceived slights or insults, frequently feeling underappreciated or misunderstood. This combination of behaviors paints a picture of someone who is primarily motivated by egoistic desires and a personal need for validation and superiority.
